When it comes to learning about life at The Terraces, whom better to hear from than the residents themselves?
An engaged audience was recently treated to just that at an afternoon luncheon and panel presentation featuring five of our fabulous residents: Sheila Pedisich, Mike Lyons, Joanne McCartney, Judy Spletzer, and Ray Spinelli.
Moderated by Director of Sales and Marketing Samantha Pal, the speakers weighed in on such topics as: When is the Right Time?, What Made the Terraces Stand Out from the Rest?, What Activities Do You Enjoy?, and How Do You Downsize? The responses were lively and varied:
Joanne: “This was a wonderful decision, and surpassed anything else we had seen.”
Judy: “We went to a luncheon at The Terraces in 2010 and that was it. It’s been six years in July that we live here. We live an easier life – don’t wait too long!”
Ray: “I made the decision on the spot and moved in January of last year. I have two sons in Southwest Florida and wanted to live nearby.”
Joanne: “Our daughter urged us to look at The Terraces and said we should sign up right away – she says it’s the best gift her parents ever gave her.”
Mike: “You can be five minutes too late, or five years too early – we would rather be early. We did not want our children to have the burden of taking care of us.”
Sheila: “We have also been here for five years. I love it – it is the best place for my husband and me.”
On the topic of how The Terraces stands out:
Sheila: “I knew my husband would need memory care, and I love the idea it is all under one roof. I can be by his side in five minutes.”
Mike: “For us, a warm climate was the first criteria. We concluded that Class A was the only way we would go for retirement – we rejected Bs and Cs where you have to pay for LifeCare.
Is there
anything you miss from your previous home?
Ray: “I don’t miss anything – I did not want to care for my house any longer.”
Mike: “I don’t miss anything.”
As for activities:
Sheila: “I love line dancing, playing cards, gym programs and more.”
Joanne: “We have eight games going of Tripoley, and I love the lectures and entertainment.”
About downsizing?
Judy: “I just started anew!”
Joanne: “We gave our billiard table to St. Matthews House, other stuff to our church, and we were ready to move in!”
What do you do “off campus”?
Joanne: “We go to theater at Broadway Palm, Artis Naples, and take courses at Florida Gulf Coast University – we have a bus so you don’t have to worry about driving.”
Judy: “I enjoy Terraces on the Town – we try all the great restaurants in the area.”
Mike: “Do you know what ROMEO stands for? Retired Old Men Eating Out…we do that every month.”
Thanks to our dynamic resident panelists for your time and expertise. Our guests really enjoyed the presentation!
